For Those Of You That Were Upset About the $10 Fee To Get Into the Rally Let me Inform You of A Few Facts!
The Lynchburg Motorcycle Rally for 2008 was DEAD, DONE, ,GONE, NO MORE, was NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
The prior promoter (Pat Bedford) was not going to do a 2008 rally because of several reasons. The biggest reason was the non support from the businesses in and around the city. No one there supported the rally or donated any time or money to pay expenses such as advertising, flyers, security which was $20 per hour - per officer that the sheriff's charged us, insurance, rent for the park for the weekend, help to clean up the park and help take care of vendors and biker needs while there, tissue for the restrooms and someone to keep them filled, porta-johns, garbage dumpsters and people to keep the trash picked up, any type of entertainment and so on and so on.
If the business's on the square would help support a rally that THEY benefit from it could remain a free event. You need to address that with them and ask them why since they MAKE HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY DURING THE EVENT, that they dont help promote it!
I would really like to hear their responses to that.
We stepped in and took on those expenses thinking that $10 was much less than any event anywhere was charging and would pay those expenses and keep the rally a clean family event. Everyone seems to think that by charging a small fee that we made a butt load of money. NOT! You dont get in free to any other biker event anywhere. Why should this one be different?
It was either charge a small fee and have a rally or
not have a rally at all!
